WEEK 4

JUST A LUCKY START? by D.X.Pert

Everybody knows Derek Jeter (aka Captain Intangibles) is a winner and probably the signature player of his generation. But what he's doing this season is unbelievable. He's turning the Belfast Cubs into winners... all by himself! Have you taken a look at their roster? It looks like an expansion team and despite that they are 3-1 and have won 6 of their last 7 games. They don't score lots of points, don't hit the long ball, don't pitch many innings, don't strikeout many batters... they just win. And that's all that matters. Can they keep this up? When Derek Jeter is involved, anything is possible.
We are eyeing a change of the guard this year. The champs (1-3) didn't have a good draft and Rolen hasn't done much so far. The Frogs (1-3) have A-Rod but not much else, Thome and Magglio are injured and Rivera had a terrible April. The Turtles (2-2) rely too much on their pitching staff but injuries to Wood, Schilling and Big Unit make them very vulnerable.
Parity is good for competition and, after only four weeks, we can see that's what we have here. No undefeated teams and no winless teams. And that's due to the upset of the week: Maniacs' win over the Monkeys, a victory made possible by Pujols, Mora and Radke.
The last paragraph is for a baffling trade. Trenton Walker traded away superstar David Ortiz for Justin Morneau and Tim Wakefield. Buchar told the press "Morneau will outscore Ortiz, you can write it down". Black Sox got a much better deal for Alfonso Soriano, who is no David Ortiz.
