It's amazing what is happening in the American division. Three teams are 4-3 and the other three are 3-4. Everybody has a chance here, I guess that's why they call America the land of opportunity.
This kind of parity is good for the league, but what does it mean? These teams are all good or are all mediocre? Well, it's still early (is it really?) but the top-3 scoring teams play in the other division. Are you sure this is America's pastime?
Things are much different in the International division. We have a perfect team, the Howlers, who are 7-0, and a winless team, the Belfast Cubs. The Howlers are doing so good because they have the best offense in the league, leader in average and slugging.
Besides the Howlers, the Toronto Thugs and the Buenos Aires Mad Turtles are having pretty good seasons themselves. Both carried by their pitching staffs. However, they achieved pitching success by using different strategies. The Mad Turtles drafted power pitchers in the first 5 rounds and have more than 1 strikeout per inning pitched, whereas the Thugs have a few reliable guys like Foulke and Mulder, and every week try to find pitchers with two starts. So far, it's worked fot both teams.
I'm still waiting for that first trade, guys! Don't let me down.
