Roger Clemens might be the best pitcher ever. Nobody can argue with that. However, being in his forties and after five straight seasons with an ERA over 3.50, it's pretty safe to say that no one saw this coming. He was taken by the Kitchener Howlers in the 10th round. Can you say steal of the draft? Joel Piņeiro, Jamie Moyer and Hideo Nomo were picked much higher. It looks like Clemens and the Howlers can't do anything wrong. How long can they keep this up?
The Howlers seem to be running away with the Rest of the World Division, but the word that defines the Eastern America Division is "parity". The last place team is just two games away from the top and four of the six teams are tied at .500. The teams with the most and fewest points scored have the same record: 3-3.
What's up with the lack of trading? All managers are afraid to pull the trigger too early and regret it later in the season. Besides, everybody tends to overrate their own guys and ask for too much in return.
It's a shame because I'd love to have a blockbuster to comment on. Maybe next week.
