YOUTH MOVEMENT by D.X.Pert

 

Many thought the Maniacs had taken too many chances in the draft picking several young unproven players. We won't really know until the end of the season, but right now they look very good. Miguel Cabrera, Scott Podsednik and Brandon Webb had a great week and along with veterans Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds gave the Maniacs their first win of the year. The Drunken Monkeys are a great disappointment but the truth is they haven't been lucky with the matchups. Close win for the Terriers that puts them on top of their division despite missing Mark Prior and Preston Wilson for several months. Terrible week for the Black Sox; Barry Zito needs some help there. Is the manager even paying attention? He's starting the injured Berroa in week 3. Gagne got his save opportunities and the Sluggers got their first win. So much for all the talk about Loaiza's 2003 season being a fluke; I bet the Howlers feel pretty good about having picked him and Roger Clemens. The Springers, on the other hand, regret taking Juan Pierre so early and are still waiting for the real Pedro. And how about Carlos Beltran? Terrific week for the Thugs' star. They are one of the top scoring teams in the league. Belfast Cubs are in trouble, they have no pitching and no wins, whereas the Mad Turtles focused on pitching and are 2-0.
