WEEK 14

MID-SEASON REVIEW by D.X.Pert


TERRIERS (7-7): They stay in the battle for a playoff spot with their pitching. Got a few steals in the draft like Beltre, Benitez and Sheets.

CUBS (2-12): Done, but they're getting better.

MAD TURTLES (8-6): Inconsistent. Depend too much on their pitchers, which are excellent by the way.

LONG BALLERS (5-9): Hurt by Preston Wilson's injury and disappointing seasons from Kaz Matsui and Vidro. Has used just 7 pitchers.

TREE FROGS (9-5): Balance. They have everything: power, speed and pitching. Sit on top of the division and things look good.

BLACK SOX (7-7): 18 pitchers! Still in the race but need more from first-round pick Alfonso Soriano. Pudge has been their MVP.

HOWLERS (11-3): After an awesome start, they seem to be slowing down. Don't have many stars but do have lots of players having career years like Abreu, Mora, Casey, Matsui. Best pick? The Rocket.

MANIACS (9-5): A blend of Giants (Schmidt and Bonds) and kids (Podsednik and Cabrera). So far, so good.

SPRINGERS (5-9): Bad draft. Pedro, Pierre and Giambi are huge busts. And their record shows it.

DRUNKEN MONKEYS (6-8): Unlucky. Should've won more games at the beginning of the season. Great finding in Livan Hernandez.

THUGS (9-5): First in pitching, but why? Mulder is their only big-time pitcher.

SLUGGERS (6-8): Gagne and a bunch of guys. Need a few stars and a good second half from Pettitte.
