HELL FREEZES OVER by D.X.Pert


The nightmare is over for the Belfast Cubs. The painful losing streak has come to an end. After 11 straight losses, Tom Reilly decided he had had enough and managed his team to its first win of the year.

I know it will sound pretentious but I feel I played a big role in this change of luck for the Cubs. Don't tell me you don't remember that cover ("TENebrous") and that column in which I killed this franchise.
Reilly didn't like that column one bit and started making moves in order to improve his club. And they paid off. Players realized his manager actually cared about winning and, lead by Derek Jeter, had a great week. We'll see if they can keep this up.

The Mishawaka Maniacs keep winning. It's five in a row already. However, many owners in the league think Dan Spalding blew it by trading for Carl Crawford. Did he give up too much? I don't think so. Gregg Maddux has had a great career but nowadays he is a mediocre pitcher. Sammy Sosa is old and he isn't a 50 HR hitter anymore. And the 2nd round pick is actually a 7th rounder.

So much for the American superiority over the International Division. This week's outcome was a tie, 3-3.
